Project Manager Germany (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
- Hybrid
- Dortmund, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany
- Project Development
Job description
What this role is about
As Project Manager Germany, you will take full ownership of the successful delivery of our utility-scale battery storage projects in Germany. Unlike many project management roles, your involvement starts long before construction begins. You will join during the contracting phase, helping shape technical requirements, reviewing engineering solutions and ensuring contracts accurately reflect GIGA Storage’s quality standards, project objectives and German requirements.
Once construction starts, you become the technical and financial owner of the project. You will oversee planning, budget, quality, safety and stakeholder management while coordinating EPC contractors, engineers, suppliers and public authorities. Working closely with our Project Director, Contract Manager, Finance team and HSE Manager, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget before handing them over to our Operations team.
Your first project will be located in Neuenkirchen. As GIGA Storage continues to expand its German portfolio, you’ll work on multiple projects located within approximately a 90-minute drive of our Dortmund office. Your time will be split between our Dortmund office and the project sites.
Your key responsibilities
Lead the technical and financial delivery of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects from the contracting phase through construction, commissioning and handover to Operations.
Manage the project schedule, budget, quality, safety and monthly reporting, while coordinating EPC contractors, battery suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
Provide technical input during contracting and ensure engineering solutions, site design, transport, connections and construction requirements comply with GIGA Storage standards and German regulations.
Act as the project owner for external stakeholders, including the TSO, local authorities, permitting bodies and surrounding communities.
What you bring
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership of technically complex infrastructure projects and knows how to bring multiple disciplines together. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in every field, but you must be able to oversee the full project, form a clear technical opinion and keep all parties moving in the same direction.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of working and thinking, preferably in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary construction or infrastructure projects that combine civil, electrical and mechanical disciplines.
Demonstrable experience with EPC and/or FIDIC contracts.
Fluency in German, both spoken and written, including technical communication, and a good command of the English language.
Strong financial awareness and experience monitoring project budgets, forecasts and reporting.
A structured, proactive and hands-on approach, with a strong sense of ownership.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge contractors and technical specialists when needed.
Experience with substations, BESS, large PV installations, data centres, power plants, energy infrastructure, industrial facilities or utility-scale renewable energy projects is considered a strong advantage.
Why this role stands out
End-to-end ownership: you are involved from contracting through final handover and can influence both the technical solution and project execution.
Large-scale impact: you will deliver battery storage projects that play a direct role in Germany’s energy transition.
A key position in Germany: you will help establish GIGA Storage’s German project portfolio, with several projects planned in succession.
Broad technical scope: you will coordinate civil, electrical and construction disciplines without being limited to one specialist area.
What GIGA Storage offers you in this role
The opportunity to take ownership of one of our first major German battery storage projects and help shape how we deliver future projects in the market.
A challenging position with real decision-making power in a fast-growing international organisation.
Close collaboration with experienced colleagues across project delivery, engineering, contracts, finance, HSE and operations.
A practical and entrepreneurial environment where ideas move quickly and your expertise has visible impact.
A varied working week between our Dortmund office and project locations in Germany.
And furthermore
Performance Based Bonus Plan, based on company and individual performance, with a maximum of 10% to 20% of your gross annual (12 months) salary, depending on your seniority level.
End-of-year bonus of 7% to 9%.

28 holidays based on full-time employment.
Pension plan.
Personal Development Budget of €750,- per year.
